A few days ago I got the solidly illuminated check engine and traction control lights, with the blinking cruise control light. My 2010 Subaru Forester has over 96,000 miles and has never had any problems. Just to update my previous post which is two posts above this one.
Thanks to everyone who has posted over the years and months. I will update the post again to note what happens. I realize that I will need to drive the car a few days or weeks to be sure that was the cause but I am thinking it was. I cleaned everything up and now no warning lights. I am talking corrosion which was visible on and under the clamp and against the battery terminal. Then I decided to look at the battery since that was also mentioned as a possible cause and sure enough my Positive terminal and clamp was heavily corroded. So after reading the posts I did the obvious thing and check the gas cap but that seemed to be OK. I had noticed that the car didn't sound right when I started it up the last couple of days either. This was a very interesting and useful forum. īut do not replace your catalytic converter as I have been tricked on this one before as this seems to be a go to when cel come on. I reset codes it came back, was wondering now where to go when I needed gas again and saw missing cap, aaaa, ordered a new cap, live in the middle of no where still waiting for it, but came to this site, totally makes sense, and kinda figured this was it, I had a buick park avenue years ago if cap was off she ran like hell.
This cel came on 200 kilometers later, I checked it it said catalytic converter, I called BS. Place got crazy busy the guy, started doing propane I wanted to get out of there need3ed my receipt, somehow the gas cap didn't get on. īut stopped to get gas at full service 5 cents a litre cheaper, why not ? My car is kept in top shape, this situation happened to me, just changed oil, found inner tie rod with minor, minor leak but went through everything. I work as a maintenance and up keep for some farms ,so constantly I am dealing with equipment upkeep and issues. Okay don't usually post on these forums, but I use some information and it helps ,
